Jessie Mae Hodsdon was fourteen when she began writing Issym, a Christian fantasy book for teens. Her eyes were just beginning to open to how much trashy-content filled the bookshelves at most stores. Over the next few years Jessie Mae’s passion grew until she accepted a call from God to build a publishing company that would offer high quality, clean reading to people of all ages–starting with pre-teens. Adventure with a purpose was the new Rebirth Publishing’s battle cry. Issym was released after much hard work when Jessie Mae was seventeen.
Jessie Mae began to speak at churches, youth groups and schools. She now inspires teenagers to seize their youth for and through God and helps kids harness a love of writing–by far her favorite part of her job. In November 2010, a year after Issym’s release, Jessie Mae and Rebirth Publishing
put out Asandra, Issym’s sequel. Xsardis, the third book in the series has a scheduled release date of November 2011.
Amidst her writing, publishing and speaking, Jessie Mae is also a student at Nyack College and will graduate in 2013. She also helps out in the Bible Quizzing program and founded a Young Christian Writers’ Guild in her hometown of Bangor, Maine. Creative in many areas, Jessie Mae loves music, writing and drama. “I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me,” says Philippians 3:12, one verse that Jessie Mae thinks sums up her life and her goals perfectly.
This blog exists to encourage other young writers and offer a peak into the life of a teenage writer. This girl exists to run passionately after a God Whose love is astounding!

Hi Jess! I didn’t know you were an author! That is SUPER cool! Do you do talks at public schools? I work at a local middle school, and I know my kiddos would benefit from hearing from a real-life young author
I do actually talk at public schools and would absolutely LOVE to come to yours. Let’s coordinate a time in January?
